Eventually - 2009
In the collection of Kristen Barnhill
This is a spontaneous painting that is about events, warnings, things that will eventually happen. Basically the future is coming, and it will bring changes, but we don’t know what they will be. The full moon is a symbol of a phase that is now that will soon change.

Rising to a Higher Power - 2009
$1795.00
This is one of the pieces that I got into the Spirituality Show, the lovely thing is that when I picked it up the curator said that I’d had a lot of comments on it. Also she said that when her mother came to see the show that this piece made her cry. Wow! It absolutely made my day.
The frame was made for this piece by George Barnhill. It has 24k gold leaf around the edge. George is an artist, in his sculpture and his custom frame work.

This painting is number 6 of a series that talks about color and space and relationship. The paintings in this series also compare something rooted to the earth (powerlines) and something free to move about (birds). this painting is a little different because I added the element of pot shots or holes near the birds. I detest the complusion that some have to just shoot at things, including birds. In a way this is like how sometimes we find ourselves taking random shots at the “real” parts of our lives. These “real” parts to me, include family, principles, and God. Sometimes those radom shoots are unintentional, signified by neglect. Sometimes it is much more obvious. So I guess what I am saying is do your human best to take care of the most important things in your life.

This painting is acrylic on panel, and is a view from my bedroom window in our last house. The rose bushes where huge, old, and smelled fantastic, so we left our window open at night and became enveloped in the scent. What a terrific way to sleep.

This painting I just love! It features a male and female Western Tanager. I was considering relationships, and color, shape and Autumn when I painted this. It is painted on panel, in this case reclaimed wood. I just enjoy birds, artistically and from a naturalist point of view.

This painting just happened. I had this idea and sketched it in my book, then it came together in an amazingly guided fashion. I love the back lit quality. It is my favorite right now.

This is a fun experimental picture, the two figures are floating on a layer of 1/4 inch Plexiglas. When the light hits it right the Plexiglas lights up. It seems that the figures are angels visiting.

I love to really work the surface of my paintings, to get multiple layers of color that play off each other. This one has an incredible surface. Again this is talking about the power of man, tied to the earth vs. the power of God that has no bounds.

Sometimes you follow your intuition and art work comes together easily. This is the first of a series that discusses power and communication and how it is bound to the earth . . . while the birds that rest on the wires have the option of not being tied to the earth. Prayer is a power or communication that is not tied to the earth. This series also allows me to explore these power lines that are rapidly becoming a thing of the past.

In this Painting I was meditating on the idea that some of us are still bound to the earth or the communication of the earth. Sometimes we are released from the earth by death, and sometimes we can experience a rebirth of meaning in our existence.
