Yes, the show at the Springville Museum is coming right up and all of us are working hard. Julie Buckley, Georgeand Kristen Barnhill, and Me will present new and fabulous stuff! The show will include multi-medium, found objects, textiles, melted, earthy, highly crafted, 2d and 3d works! That’s just the tip of what will be shown.
Above is a painting that I’ve been working on for the show, I think it’s almost done. Soon I’ll start posting details of the work that will be presented – an appetizer. So be there for the meal, Sept. 11, 2010!
I’ve had friends say that they love my images, but can’t afford the originals. So I’ve set up an account with RedBubble. Redbubble makes it easy, and very affordable to obtain all sizes of art. If you don’t see the art you want, email me or check back, I’m always adding more paintings, and photos. The painting below is on my Redbubble site at: http://www.redbubble.com/people/cjfshine
I got accepted to the Hogle Zoo Show. It runs from January 29 – March 14, 2010. The address for the show is: 2600 East Sunnyside Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah 84108. It is a well established show for those who appreciate animals.
Affinity (Western Tanagers)

This is the painting that got accepted. It features a male and female Western Tanager. I was considering relationships, and color, shape and Autumn when I painted this. It is painted on panel, in this case reclaimed wood. I enjoy birds, artistically and from a naturalist point of view.
It was a lovely show, beautiful work, highly recommended. If you have a chance check it out on the Utah Arts Council Site – they have a catalogue online. There is a link to the Utah Arts Council on the right side bar, under interesting links.
It was tough but I did get a piece into the Arts Council’s Show. Waiting For the Son to Rise was accepted. This surprised and pleased me considering it’s religious implications.
This show runs from Oct. 17 – Nov. 26 2008
At the Rio Gallery
300 S. Rio Grande St. S.L.C. UT 84101 801-533-3582
This piece was accepted into the Utah Annual Statewide competition, I found out today. It is so surprizing to me because I thought that the other pieces would get in, not this one. Though I really like it, more than the others. Well you never know what will be accepted and not.
Apparently this is a tough show to get a painting in, so possibly I need to be more of a painter.
Well the annual statewide arts competition has begun and I entered three pieces. Two paintings and a sculpture. I feel that there are some things I would change about the sculpture but that is what happens when there are too many things going on and I don’t say no to helpful neighbors. My friend Julie Buckley, an excellent artist also entered two paintings, that are terrific. So in a few weeks we will know if we got in!
