Description

Acceptance is not about feeling “OK” with what has happened. How could one feel “alright” about irreversible loss? This stage is about accepting the new reality and it’s permanence. We will never like this reality but eventually we learn to function.  Eventually we have more good days than bad ones. Then we can began to build our new lives a piece at a time.

The last hike I went on with my mom I found a blue bird feather.  Blue birds are for remembrance. So although I remember her, my new reality is about making her proud.  Perhaps the painted hand represents the extra assistance I feel when times are really difficult. The birds in the background are people coming and going, nothing remaining the same as it was.  Whenever a person needs strength they can find it by drinking from the presence, guidance, love, and memory of those they lost. Then they can build anew with seeds of wisdom.
